About Vinnie
Slamcaster is shaped by the decades Vinnie Amadeo has spent inside the California penal system — a long road that started in his youth and continues today, with a release date still to be set by the California Board of Parole Hearings. Along the way, Mr. Amadeo gave himself over to the arts: more than ten years of practice in near-total isolation at the Pelican Bay Fine Arts Academy, followed by two years studying comics and sequential art at Lancaster State University. His lifelong vision? To poke fun at every inmate, guard, nurse, doctor, psychiatrist, dentist, gang member, or anyone else unlucky enough to fall in the sights of his sketch pencil.
Every comic he draws is rooted in a real event that actually happened. As Vinnie says, "Humor allows you to make a point without drawing blood." While he might be poking fun at just about everyone in his visual range, he's never trying to hurt feelings-he just loves irony, and there's a whole lot of that going on 'round here.
