About Vinnie

Slamcaster draws on Vinnie Amadeo’s 30+ years in the California penal system, starting out in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall at the age of 14 and continuing through an as-yet-undetermined release date set by the California Board of Parole Hearings. Mr. Amadeo immersed himself in the arts in total isolation for over ten years at the Pelican Bay Fine Arts Academy and spent an additional two years studying comics and sequential art at Lancaster State University. His lifelong vision? To poke fun at every inmate, guard, nurse, doctor, psychiatrist, dentist, gang member, or anyone else unlucky enough to fall in the sights of his sketch pencil.

Every comic he draws is rooted in a real event that actually happened. As Vinnie says, “Humor allows you to make a point without drawing blood.” While he might be poking fun at just about everyone in his visual range, he’s never trying to hurt feelings—he just loves irony, and there’s a whole lot of that going on ‘round here.
